Choose decimal separator when copying

When copying tables from microdata.no to tools such as Excel with Norwegian locale, a problem with decimal separators often arises. Microdata.no, like most other tools, uses a period (.) as the decimal separator.

However, the Norwegian version of Excel uses a comma as the decimal separator. This means that when you paste decimal numbers that contain a period into the Norwegian version of Excel, the numbers are interpreted as text.

Now it is possible to choose the decimal separator when copying tables. The option to use Norwegian comma formatting for decimal numbers appears when you click on the “copy” icon for a table.
